Jordan Gusman reached new standards at the Millrose Games when placing third in the 3,000 metres in New York on Saturday 8th February.
The Maltese middle distance runner clocked a new national record at the prestigious indoor championships when completing the distance in seven minutes 48.17 seconds. Canada’s Justin Knight, won the race in 7:46.36 while American Joe Klecker took second place in 7:47.57.
This was the latest of impressive performances from Gusman on the international scene. His timing on Saturday night was one second faster than his previous best he had set just one month ago at the Dr Sander Invitational meeting in New York when he had completed the distance in 7:49.11.
That performance had earned the right for Gusman to secure a qualifying berth for this year’s World Indoor Championships in Nanjing, China. However, these global championships have now been postponed for 2021 due to coronavirus fears.
