While there are still another 7 weeks to go for the Iceland Games of the Small States of Europe, 4 athletes have already achieved the MQS set by the MOC for these games.
Kevin Moore, running in far away Australia, has run legal 10.67 seconds in the 100m and 21.57 seconds in the 200m while Rebecca Sare’ competing locally in the Clubs’ League jumped 12.23 metres in the Triple Jump. Charlotte Wingfield also achieved the qualifying standard by running 11.96 in the 100m at a Meeting in Oregon. Rebecca Camilleri competing at the Italian Indoor Championships earlier in the year, jumped 6.08 metres, breaking her own Indoor Long Jump national record and is only 1 cm shy of the qualifying standards.
The competitions that the MAAA has lined up for the rest of the season, including today’s Challenge Meeting 3 but also the forthcoming Malta International Competition of the 2nd of May will provide ample opportunity for the Maltese athletes to qualify for this Competition.
