Nicolai Portelli

General Secretary of the Association

An ex-Maltese international athlete who won many athletic accolades both locally and abroad.

Through experience at various management levels and in senior positions Nicolai had the opportunity to personally learn and grow by leading teams for business growth, restructuring, as well as building start-ups and moving into new markets. People have always been central to moving forward, and to him helping individuals expose their potential and building on it drives results. His philosophy is to be fair, but assertive to achieve winning solutions and positions that are sustainable.

Business development, which is an area he has put a lot of energy into, goes beyond just being a stand-alone function and I use my skills to expand the business potential to be able to attract opportunities and effectively convert them. With international experience in developing businesses and re-engineering processes and business models, he adds value in cultivating relationships and developing opportunities.

Business development is a process that to him brings together intrinsic and extrinsic factors for long-term value. Being analytical, but practical for the benefit of all players is one way of getting things done whilst making sure to keep things simple and achieve the maximum return in what we are out to achieve. I enjoy building and working with teams, meeting customers, supporting the supply chain, and creating an environment which is fun and rewarding.
