Malta’s men’s 4x100m relay team set a new national record at the prestigious Lignano Sabbiadoro meet in Italy.
The team, composed of Omar El Aida Chaffey, Luke Bezzina, Graham Pellegrini, and Beppe Grillo, finished their race in 40.51 seconds, six-tenths faster than the previous record set in May at the Balkan Championships.
In the same meeting at the Stadio G. Teghi, Matthew Galea Soler established a strong new personal best of 48.24s, improving by 0.06 his timing in the National Championships a fortnight before.
Meanwhile, Beppe Grillo was also in action the day before, winning the 100m race in Brugnera in 10.52s. In the women’s event, Thea Parnis finished third in 12.06s.
