Luke Micallef and Gabriel Farrugia are off to Antalya, in Turkey, to represent Malta at the European Cross Country Championships. Micallef, winner of the first two Road Running League races this season is back from a strong performance at this event last year, and will take part in the Seniors race over a distance of 7834m.
On his part, Farrugia, fresh from his victory in the third race in Safi with a new Under 23 national record on the 5k discance, will compete in the U23 race over a distance of 6324m.
This year’s European Cross Country Championships take place in the Dokuma Park in the north of Antalya with a challenging course comprising sections of sand and mud for the runners to navigate the race.
