Athletics Malta successfully organised a Youth National Team training camp between 5 and 7 September at the Mediterranean College of Sport. The camp brought together 25 promising athletes, aged 14 to 16, under the guidance of six local coaches and two Italian technical consultants, Professor Antonio Laguardia and Professor Renzo Roverato.

The programme focused on deepening the athletes’ technical expertise in their primary events, while also offering exposure to other disciplines — including throws, hurdles, and high jump — to support their development as well-rounded athletes.

Building on the success of this initiative, Athletics Malta is committed to organising similar camps more frequently and further strengthening the structures that nurture young sporting talent on the island. These efforts will also form an important part of the long-term preparation for the Commonwealth Youth Games, which Malta will proudly host in 2027.
